| I want to help Indian PWSs to form The Indian Stammering Association (TISA). To help in this area, I will draft out ideas on the structure of the board, a mission statement, structure of the staff and type of staffing, how to recruit staff, general principles of a fund raising charity Association, and to give them any help required to get TISA started. It is quite possible that other organisations, for examples Indian Speech Language Institutions, Indian Health Clinics and people representing the Government of India, might be able to help here. A media campaign may be useful, and help would be appreciated in collecting contact details and sending out information about the proposals for the new "The Indian Stammering Association (TISA)". Like other Stammering/Stuttering Associations, TISA will need its own web site. It may wish to use the temporary website we have created or it may not. Also like other Associations, it should be completely unbiased in presenting Stuttering/Stammering information and the various therapies on offer. TISA should be a fund raising, non-profit Association, run by a few paid Indians, as well as many volunteer Indians. The Indians should be PWSs with a few SLPs. Its objectives will be to provide information and carry out research on all aspects of Stuttering/Stammering. The vision and mission statements of the BSA (http://www.stammering.org/about_bsa.html ) seem good guiding principles. However, TISA, once formed should have its own structure, vision and mission objectives. TISA, like many others may wish to become an associate member of the ISA, it may wish to have links to many other Stuttering/stammering Association's and it will probably want to have many Web links and "back Web links" on its web site. |
